Ikea

How can anyone not like Ikea? If there is such a person then let me explain:

Ikea can be a fantastic date place. Ikea is a place where people have tested their creativity and displayed it for others. While learning about each other, this can be crucial- to see how a person responds to the creativity of others, or how their ideas would have been different.

The couches are mostly different and pleasurable to sit in, as are the large leather chairs. Just remember to share with other customers...

Also, if you read German or Russian, there is plenty of reading material stocked on the shelves!

Turtle Back Zoo

For those who live/frequent N.J, this place is a must.

Open every day from 10:00am until 4:00pm, this zoo is fantastic. Only $5 per adult, there are plenty of animals to see and it's a nice walk throughout. The zoo is not very large but there is plenty to see and if you're not rushed, can be an afternoon event.

Mind you, when I walked into the reptile area I saw a boy sitting up against the glass staring at a python eye to eye for a good few minutes. I could have sworn they were speaking Slytherin but you can verify that since I am sure he will still be there.

Wolves, Bison, Cougars, Eagles, Bears- the works.

Here's a post:Shh! Don't tell anyone this, but the Peninsula Hotel in Midtown has a beautiful rooftop lounge. Amazing views. Elegant hotel.

Ferry from Lower Manhattan to Hoboken. Short and nice views.

Also for the serious relationship: Boat up the Hudson River to West Point. Check out Hudson River Cruises.

Monsey People: Slot Zone is a cute place behind the Nanuet Mall that noone knows about. You race remote control cars around big tracks. You can also win her a stuffed animal or prize in the tiny arcade in the back. Check out Slot Zone U.S.A.

Starbucks

It seems that Starbucks is always a good choice. Whether you're just there for the few minutes it takes to get a coffee, or planning on sitting there for a while, you really can't go wrong. The ambiance is generally a nice one, and there are some that have extremely comfortable chairs and couches.

In addition, it also says something about the relationship. If your goal is to shmooze somewhere that's not a hotel lobby, that is a statement in itself. Or maybe it is testament to the comfort level you feel with the other person, in that you don't need to always be doing something. Maybe you like that delicious Starbucks smell and are really sharing something a notch higher on the "intimate scale." Could be that you enjoy sitting around watching other people...guessing their life story, silently judging them, whatever floats your boat. Either way, there is ample room for any of these reasons, but the most important being that you enjoy spending time in the company of the person you are with.

Would you ever invite the Starbucks staff to your engagement for all the service they provided and the effect they might have had on you finding your soul mate? Now that would be "repayment."

Thank you Starbucks.

Target, thats right.

Those living in NJ can appreciate how little there is to do around there in the winter time. Aside from lobbies, and food, there isn't much to actually do. Yes, theres bowling or maybe billiards but on a Saturday night it tends to be crowded and second hand smoke is an added bonus.

The following idea might not work for everyone but when it works, it really works: TARGET. I myself had fun leasurely going up and down some of the isles and looking at the random items they have. Be it toys, tents, or towels theres always something interesting around. If you are really bold, there are pillows that are very swingable. ;)

Another fantasticle store along the same lines of interest is The Christmas Tree, located off of route 4 Westbound. It is open until 10:00pm and has a Bed Bath & Beyond located on the second floor.

Hope this helps!

More Ideas

the zoo is always fun and so is the NY aquarium.. a nice romantic hotel lobby/bar/drink place is "the view," top revolving floor in the marriot...toys r us is cheesy and overdone, please dont take us there anymore, guys... painting pottery is good but only on a date where ur already comfortable with each other.. this is a weirdish one but the reserve public NY library on 5th ave. is gorgeous, has lot of room to walk around and look at stuff and lots of museum-y rooms... thats it for now.

Ft. Tryon Park

For those who hear about the beauty of Washington Heights, the reference is not to St. Nicolas Street. Those who have stumbled upon Ft. Tryon Park have seen the true treasure of the Heights. Surrounding the Cloister's Museum is a park with pathways that lead its travelers by scenic lookouts toward New Jersey and pass through tree clusters and benches. There are a few patches of grass if the vast amount of benches are filled. Ft. Tryon Park is a great place to walk around and spend a few hours, weather permitting. Enjoy the view!
